The answer is yes, but only some general practitioners, Frenectomy Mississauga and specialists (usually pediatric dentists) can perform frenectomies.  Even fewer are dentists that are able to treat babies to allow for better latching and breast feeding. Clinics that handle babies would have to put the baby to sleep for the procedure so that means that not all clinics that do frenectomies can take them. You would have to inquire first to determine that if you have a baby you suspect has a tongue tie.

For most other cases of children, ages 4 and up, the dental offices that do frenectomies can treat them. Teenagers, young adults and even any age can be treated. With older adults, a tongue-tie, lip-tie or cheek-tie may have gone undiagnosed for their whole life because it wasn’t severe enough to become symptomatic. Then out of the blue, one day it can cause great discomfort, maybe swelling or something else. https://www.peeldentist.com/posts/how-much-does-a-frenectomy-cost-in-ontario/

If, at that point, it causes any pain, swelling, discomfort, then we recommend seeing a dentist that can treat you and “release” the tie.  In that case, the first step would be to contact an office that does frenectomies, book a consult and then all you have to do is show up! The rest will be presented to you in terms of what the treatment will look like during your appointment. The whole process is quick from beginning to end and can be done in one appointment.

If you have any questions at all, by all means let us know, we offer free, friendly advice (even if you don’t want to book just yet).
