Dr. Bobby Brown and Associates, a Dentist in Mississauga Ontario, presents this handy resource guide for the Mississauga area.

What makes a city truly great? It depends on who you ask, but certain features are universal. Culture.  A thriving business community. Real estate that isn’t priced only for the one percent. Plenty of green spaces.

These are some of the features of all truly great cities, and Mississauga has all of them and more, making it truly an attractive place to live.

Here is a roundup of some of Mississauga’s go-to spots, the must-see places, everything from one of the Ontario’s most envied green spaces to its largest shopping mall – Square One Shopping Centre.

Mississauga’s Major Resources

Lakefront Promenade Park

This spectacular wild space expands over 100 acres along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. It is the ideal place for hiking, picnics, canoeing, kayaking, and so much more. There are miles and miles of boardwalks for residents and visitors to enjoy year round. Although there are more than 500 parks in Mississauga, this waterfront expanse is definitely the jewel of the city’s green spaces.

    Mississauga is diverse

With an ever-growing population of almost 790,000, the city is home to many visible minorities. Almost half of its residents are people of colour, including folks of Southern Asian and Chinese descent. The city is growing at a rapid pace, and in the past two and a half decades the population has doubled, according to experts. And the population is predominately affluent, with a median income of approximately $85,000 per person annually, according to city data.

    More more than 88,000 businesses

Mississauga has a thriving business community that employs approximately 425,000 people in a wide array of professions. Mississauga is home to employers in manufacturing, aerospace, science and technology, hospitality, and many other industries.

There are festivals and events year round

Although residents head to Toronto for annual treats like the Toronto International Film Festival (held each September) Mississauga hosts plenty of huge events and festivals that draw enormous crowds. Smack dab in the middle of the business district, behind the Art Gallery of Mississauga, is the public square. This space is home everything from concerts to exhibits to food festivals every month – locals describe the square as the city’s “beating heart.” There is bound to be something happening here no matter what time of year you visit.

Square One Shopping Centre is in Mississauga

More than 300 retail stores. Any kind of food you could possibly crave. Furnishings for the home or office. Plus an entertainment and gaming centre – Square 1 has all that and more. It is Ontario’s biggest shopping centre, and the second largest in all of Canada. There is nothing you won’t find at Square . It is a dream destination for any and all kinds of retail therapy.

Mississauga is next door to historic Streetsville

It takes less than 10 minutes to make the trip from Mississauga, by hopping on a train or grabbing a cab. Visiting Streetsville is like stepping back in time. The village prizes itself on its commitment to history and conserving the buildings and streetscapes that were built in the mid-1800s, when Streetsville was incorporated. Streetsville is a neighbour of Mississauga, but in certain respects it is a world away.

These are only some of the marvelous features of Mississauga. Canada’s sixth largest city is growing at a furious pace, but the welcome mat is still out for newcomers. There are homes for sale, apartments available, and lots of places to explore and enjoy.

Mississauga is a world class city with a community feel. That’s what makes it so unique, and so special to residents and visitors alike.
